About Us

Tickhill Riding Club was formed in 1953. Our aim is to provide competitions for all riders regardless of their age or ability.

The club hosts 5 Club Shows - for members only and various Open Shows and events throughout the summer season.
We also host 2 Open Dressage events throughout the winter. These are held at various local indoor arenas. We also host 2 outdoor Open Dressage competitions at the Club Field. These 4 competitions score points in our Dressage Leagues. There are 3 Leagues and everyone who competes is included. The winners receive perpetual trophies, keepsake trophies and champion rosettes.

Tickhill Riding Club is affiliated to the British Horse Society and is in Area 16. Club members have the opportunity to represent the club in team and individual competitions in many different disciplines.

There is a NEW Club Show Schedule for 2012 which includes both Age Group and Open classes. The Age Groups are as follows: Lead Rein (7 years and under – must be 5 years old by the first Club Show date), 12 and under, 13-16 years and 17 years and over.

Age is as at 1st January in the current year. The Age Group Classes include; Turnout, Equitation, Working Hunter, Show Jumping and Gymkhana. Points are awarded for riders placed in the classes and these accumulate towards annual presentation awards and rosettes. The member who scores the most points over the season in the In Hand Veteran classes will also win the Veteran Trophy.

The NEW classes are Open to Members of any age, these include Best Riding Club Type, Novice Working Hunter, Open Working Hunter, In Hand Classes, Ridden Classes and Open Show Jumping Classes with Max Heights from 50cm to 1.00m. Points will be accumulated per rider per show in all these classes and the member with the highest total will receive a Champion Rosette at Presentation Night. If the classes prove popular we may award trophies for all classes as well. The Fun Jumping class is just for fun and not for points.
There will however be NEW Trophies for the following:
Leading Show Jumper of The Year – in each Age group, awarded to the member who accumulates the most show jumping points over the season from the maximum 3 jumping classes per show they are allowed to enter,
In Hand Champion -awarded to the member who accumulates the most points over the season from the In Hand classes, and
Ridden Champion - awarded to the member who accumulates the most points over the season from the Ridden Classes.

Also New for 2012 is that members can compete on more than one horse/pony at Club Shows. You must however nominate one at the start of the season for Club points.

There are also additional annual trophy classes including: Dressage, Handy Pony and Puissance, competitors placed in these classes will receive awards and rosettes at presentation night.

Our Open Shows include numerous Ridden Showing, Working Hunter, In-Hand, and Show Jumping classes. Competitors placed in all the classes will receive rosettes. Some Open Show classes also have trophies for winners which have to be returned each year.

2010 was the first year we have held an Open Fun Day, with classes for riders, non riders and dogs! This was very successful and has now become a popular annual event.

2012 will host our first Open One Day Challenge on 1st April, which will be like a mini one day event with Dressage, Show Jumping and Working Hunter Jumping phases. For those that don’t like dressage you can just enter the two jumping phases. For those that like dressage and not jumping there will be a limited number of places for ‘Dressage Practice’ sessions – not a competition but a chance to practice your test riding.

Annual Club registration costs just £27 (new members) and classes at club shows cost just £3.00 each or enter 4 for £10 – amazing value! Download a Membership Form today!
